WHAT IS PELVIC FLOOR PHYSIOTHERAPY?
The pelvic floor is a set of muscles at the bottom of your pelvis. They are your bladder / vaginal / rectal muscles. Their function is integral to core stability, bladder and bowel continence, and sexual health.
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy assesses how these muscles are working and so can determine the cause of the issues you are having. As with normal Physiotherapy, treatment can involve education, exercise, hands on treatment and acupuncture.
WHAT CONDITIONS CAN BE TREATED?
Common pelvic floor related issues are
– pelvic organ prolapse
– sexual pain or dysfunction
– abdominal separation
– chronic pelvic pain
– interstitial cystitis
– prostate issues
– tailbone pain
– post partum healing
